Dozens of Central Florida’s slickest muscle cars will converge on downtown Maitland from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Dozens of Central Florida’s slickest muscle cars including the classic Batmobile, Jokermobile and Gotham fire truck will converge on downtown Maitland this Saturday, March 12, prior to the Movie in the Park to support Batkid for a Day and local charities. The car show, coordinated with Sanford Brewing Company and the Central Florida Mopar Mafia Car Club, will take over Independence Lane in front of Maitland City Hall from 2 to 6 p.m. Enjoy music, food and drinks. Meet the Joker and Jack Sparrow in person. Maitland’s Movie in the Park follows at 7 p.m. inside Independence Square with the high-seas action flick "Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl." Bring blankets and chairs to relax on the grassy event lawn under the stars. Come early for kids games and movie trivia. Popcorn and admission are free. Take the kids on a treasure hunt to find pirate booty with downtown Maitland merchants. Round out this spectacular day with great food from Sanford Brewing Company-Maitland, Houndstooth Kitchen & Eatery, Outpost Kitchen, Bar, & Provisions, Boku Sushi, 407 Gelato and more. Free parking is conveniently located in the lower levels of the parking garage at the Maitland City Centre across from City Hall. Enter and exit the garage from Orlando Avenue. Other parking is south of Independence Lane across Packwood Avenue and north of Independence Lane across Horatio Avenue. Visit the Batkid for a Day tent during the car show to learn about another very special event planned for March 31 in Orlando. Donations will be accepted for the charities Give Kids the World, which provides week-long, cost-free vacations to critically ill children and their families, and the Camaraderie Foundation, which provides healing support for military service members and their families. The Batkid for a Day event will send one heroic child for an incredible experience of a lifetime on March 31 in downtown Orlando to find Stuff, the Orlando Magic’s loveable mascot, who will be taken hostage by the Batkid’s nemesis – the Joker. Batkid will rely on a trusty team from the Orlando Police Department, the Orlando Fire Department, the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
