DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office plans to increase patrols during the St. Patrick's Day holiday to crack down on impaired drivers and seatbelt violations. The crackdown will last from March 11 through March 18.
The sheriff's office recommends the following tips for the holiday:
Designate a sober driverTake away someone's keys if they are not sober Buckle your seatbelt Be aware of pedestrians Stay alert if you are a pedestrian "This St. Patrick's Day, make your own luck by designating a sober driver," DuPage County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Justin Kmitch said in a statement.
He added, "If you'll be drinking, using cannabis or partaking of any other impairing substance, planning ahead is the best way to ensure you and your friends make it home safely."
