NOVATO, CA — Pitch to Derek Bartram at your own peril. Novato High's slugging outfielder homered and knocked in two runs, extending his season-opening hitting streak to seven games in Tuesday's 5-3 Marin County Athletic League victory over Tamalpais. Bartram is batting .519 (14 for 27) with seven extra-base hits. He went deep for the first time since he went 4 for 4 with a homer and two triples and six RBI in the team's season opener, an 11-0 nonleague victory over Hercules on Feb. 17. Bartram has a 1.589 OPS, a .552 on-base percentage and is slugging 1.037. Bartram was the starting pitcher and was credited with the win. He gave up one run, struck out five and walked five in five-innings of two-hit ball. Jacob Rabb was credited with the save. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings of no-hit ball and allowed no walks. Andy Gates and freshman Nataan Hong each had one hit and one RBI for Novato.
