Press release from Columbia Fire Department: Michael DeSumma March 9, 2022 Investigators with the Richland County Fire Marshal's Office have determined that a fire that caused extensive damages to a home on Whitney Street on March 8, 2022 was intentionally set.    CRFD 2nd Shift crews responded to the home at around 9:40 a.m.  Upon their arrival responders found heavy fire coming from back of the property and spreading through the structure. Firefighters entered the home and were able to get the fire under control. There were no injuries but the incident did leave at least four people displaced. The case has now been turned over to the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Anyone that has any information on the incident is asked to call CRIME STOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME SC.
