"Family Promise of Grand Rapids provides emergency shelter, basic needs, rehousing, and stabilization services to families with children who are facing homelessness. With the support of our community we are able to ensure families have all they need during their stay in shelter and to be successful when they move home. You can make a huge impact in the lives of the families we serve by volunteering to make homes safe, comfortable, and at-the-ready for families moving out of shelter!"
Looking forward to hosting you in the Family Promise of Grand Rapids Partners in Housing Program! Here's what to expect:
Volunteer Activity: Help us rehabilitate manufactured homes to make them safe and beautiful places for families to call home! This opportunity typically includes jobs like: painting, cleaning, moving furniture or hanging blinds and smoke detectors. Let us know if you have any specialized skills (electrical, plumbing, drywall, etc.) or experience you'd like to put to great use!
Location: Because of the dynamism of our homes as they're made ready for families, we will communicate the final location of your volunteer date the week before your session. All locations are within 20 minutes of downtown Grand Rapids.
Seasonality: All of our sites are well heated, and most winter projects are completed indoors.
Attire: Please dress comfortably in clothing you can work in & don't mind getting paint or dirt on. Sneakers/Boots are best!
COVID-19: We ask that all volunteers wear masks while working indoors.
