La Grange's Virus Rate Hikes Remain Low

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange saw a 4 percent increase in cases in the last week, which was considerably less than the 12 percent hike statewide. Since early September, the village has been experiencing weekly hikes from 3 to 5 percent. As of Sunday, the village has seen 577 coronavirus cases since the pandemic's beginning, up 23 from a week before. Figures on those who are considered recovered are unavailable. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in La Grange increased by one, to 16, with the latest one on Friday. The most recent ones before that were Aug. 27 and Sept. 4. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner. The Cook County Public Health Department's coronavirus numbers for La Grange also include unincorporated La Grange Highlands, which the agency did not make apparent until August.
