La Grange Sees 15% Spike in Virus Cases: County

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange experienced a 15 percent rise in coronavirus cases over the last week, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. As of Sunday, La Grange had seen 662 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up by 85 from a week earlier, health department figures show. Since late September, the number has risen more than 40 percent. Before this last week, La Grange had been seeing 3 to 5 percent weekly hikes for more than a month. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in La Grange stood at 16, with the latest ones Oct. 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 4. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner. The Cook County Public Health Department's coronavirus numbers for La Grange also include unincorporated La Grange Highlands, which the agency did not make apparent until August.
