Here are the top three stories today in Jackson: A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in a deadly shooting on Wednesday, Mar. 9. According to investigators, Drevion Gross shot and killed Chaz Porter at the Fast Field gas station around 11:00 p.m. Investigators are also looking for a second person of interest potentially connected with the crime; anyone with information on this person is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department or call Crime Stoppers. (WDAM) On Wednesday, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba filed a complaint against Jackson City Council over the collection of residential solid waste. Mayor Lumumba procured a new contract with Richard's Disposal to begin Apr. 1, the day after the current emergency contract for the waste collection is set to expire, despite the council voting down the replacement. Waste Management has also filed a lawsuit against both the mayor and city council for failing to follow the standard process and "negotiate in good faith with participants who submitted proposals."
