JOLIET, IL — A former Joliet Central High School student was arrested this week in connection with allegations he was walking on campus and telling others he had a gun.
Joliet police say the 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and resisting the arrest.
On Wednesday morning, the Joliet police detective assigned to Joliet Central learned that a 16-year-old boy had been on campus the previous day and was showing a gun to others. The teen was currently enrolled at the Lincoln School, 906 Royce Ave.
Joliet police found the teen and searched his house, finding a BB gun that he possessed the previous day on Joliet Central property, according to police reports.
While being escorted into the Joliet police station, the teenager attempted to run from the officers while still in handcuffs, police said.
Officers captured him, and he's now staying at the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center on McDonough Avenue.
