Description

BEAVERTON, OR — Karson Leperi was probably hoping for a half hour of questions that were heavy on science and math. The engineer who works at Intel and lives in Beaverton is on Jeopardy Thursday at 7 p.m. The show airs on KATU. While no one will know how for sure how Leperi does until after the show, which was taped back in January, he seemed to give a clue in an interview with the Beaverton Valley Times. "I just had a daughter about three weeks ago, so she will be hopefully cheering up her day,"he told the paper. He also referred to Jeopardy as a one-shot. He is taking on a woman who has won three straight hames. He added that he grew up watching the show and is excited for his family and friends to watch him. Leperi said that he spent a lot of time between getting notified he would be on the show and when he actually taped, trying to fill in some of the areas that he is weaker on – such as the arts and music. Leperi is far from the first local contestant to make it to the show. Last year alone, there was Lara Phillips, a librarian from Portland and Veronica Vichit-Vadakan, a librarian at Portland Community College. Also last year, Courtney Shah, an author and history professor who lives in Portland and teaches at Lower Columbia Community College, was on the show.
