16 New COVID-19 Positive Cases In Manhattan Beach In Two Days

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The City of Manhattan Beach has seen 16 new cases of residents testing positive for COVID-19 in the last two days. Today's number from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health added six more cases to Manhattan Beach's cumulative total since data began to be collected in March. Yesterday, the city added 11 new COVID-19 cases. On Monday, Nov. 30, the city had 529 cases. On Saturday, Nov. 28, the city's cumulative total of positive cases was 519. Part of what is concerning health officials and medical professionals is the increase of positive cases throughout the county and accompanying hospitalizations. LA County currently has 2,439 people hospitalized with COVID-19, surpassing yesterday's high of 2,316 people, according to a news release. The average daily number of people hospitalized has increased 94% in just two weeks. And since early November, the number of average daily cases has increased by 225%. In the past week and a half, LA County has seen the average jump to over 5,300 cases each day, per the news release. The county's daily test positivity rate is now 13.0%. The test positivity rate was 3.9% on November 1.
