Here are the top three stories in Grand Rapids today: Nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc will be providing Kent County K9 with body armor. The new protective vest will be worn by Jack, one of the department's K9s. The vest will protect Jack against bullets and knives. The nonprofit has reportedly distributed more than 4,500 protective vests since 2009. (FOX 17 West Michigan News)The Grand Rapids Public Museum will be offering discounted admissions to make the museum more accessible to the community. To be eligible for discounted admissions, one must show a SNAP card when purchasing a ticket. According to officials with the museum, increasing accessibility to the museum is one of their top goals in cultivating more inquisitive minds. (WZZM13.com)Michigan Department of Transportation has announced additional lane closures on U.S. 131 in northern Grand Rapids. The closures will be for sign work performed on the interstate dependent on optimal weather conditions. The lanes will close on Saturday, Mar. 12 with no information on which lanes exactly.
