MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — While Manhattan Beach doesn't have enough COVID-19 positive test cases to call it a COVID-19 boomtown, its number of cases continues to increase at a higher number of new cases per day than happened with the July surge. And as Los Angeles County hospitals face an onslaught of COVID-19 patients, local medical centers are asking the public to cooperate with the county's health orders. "What I can tell you is that approximately two months ago, we only had 8 cases at LCM Torrance [Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center]. Today [Friday, Dec. 18] we have 120. Please continue to follow the stay-at-home order and wear a mask," said Andrew Werts, director, communications, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers, Torrance and San Pedro. In the last two days, Manhattan Beach has added 12 and 11 new cases for each day, respectively. The number of Manhattan Beach residents who have tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus since the county began collecting data in March is 667.
