So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here. First, today's weather: A bit of morning snow. High: 38 Low: 32. Here are the top three stories in Anchorage today: If you're in the mood for some live music this weekend, there are a lot of great shows scheduled in the Anchorage area. Head over to Williwaw Social tonight to see Zane Penny and Shane Russell perform from 7:00-12:00 a.m. Over the weekend, don't miss the Unplugged Showcase at Palmer Train Depot on Friday night featuring Emma Hill, Matt Hopper, and Matt Raney, Will Balcao, and Witty Youngman. (Anchorage Press) Some downtown Anchorage businesses are expressing their frustrations about a proposed temporary transit hub location. Business owners are concerned that they will lose business when construction begins on the highly anticipated 6th Avenue Parking Mall in October. The People Mover transit hub located at the parking structure will have to be temporarily relocated three blocks down 6th Avenue between C and E Street, which business owners say will lead to a loss of business and an increase in loitering. (Alaska's News Source) ConocoPhillips Alaska employees were evacuated this week due to a prolonged natural gas leak on the North Slope. According to a company statement, the leak was detected early Friday at the drill site CD1, 8 miles north of the village of Nuiqsut. Some non-essential employees were relocated on Monday afternoon "out of an abundance of caution," however, there are no reports of injury or environmental impact to the tundra or wildlife.
