Down to Earth Services is a regionally based and family-owned landscape company that specializes in the use of native plants to create beauty, habitat, function, and solutions for both commercial and residential landscapes and stormwater management projects in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area. We are seeking a Lead Landscape Specialist to join our growing team. The Lead Landscape Specialist must be self-motivated, adaptive, organized, and professional. The person in this position must be comfortable working on and leading a team of 1-4 crew members in a variety of outdoor conditions, and do so with a positive attitude. The Lead Landscape Specialist must be able to communicate and coordinate well with clients, management, vendors, designers, subcontractors, and crew members. The effective and efficient execution of the Lead Landscape Specialist's daily duties is critical in ensuring that Down to Earth Services can continue to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and beneficial custom landscape projects to our clients, and do so in a timely and profitable manner. Duties and Responsibilities of a Lead Landscape Specialist ● Organize and lead crew every morning to load up and leave the shop in a timely manner, utilizing and following work and purchase orders, designs, and other project information to ensure your crew has all needed tools, materials, and project documents ● Safe, skilled, and courteous driving of a loaded truck and equipment trailer (non-CDL) across the greater Kansas City metro area ● Read and comprehend information in designs, purchase and work orders, site maps, and project specifications such as scale, slope, geographic orientation, excavation depth, and other dimensions, and be able to successfully transfer that information from 2D paper and screens to the 3D work environment when needed ● Ensure safety of self, crew, and bystanders on and near job sites through proper use of PPE, construction cones, barricades, and other safety equipment ● Safe and skilled operation of machinery such as mini-excavators, skid loaders, compactors, saws, and various other powered tools and equipment ● Hands on management of a crew of 1-4 crew members ● Maintain an organized and safe job site in both commercial and residential settings ● Communicate clearly, effectively, and with a good attitude on a daily basis with general contractors, subcontractors, clients, subordinates, superiors, office staff, vendors, and others in person via text, email, and phone ● Use paper, digital, and photographic means as appropriate to keep organized and detailed records of project progress, expenses, and daily activities ● Utilize technology on a daily basis such as computers, smartphones, tablets, management software and apps, Microsoft Office, Google apps, etc. 816.974.3462 [email protected] www.dtekc.com Lead Landscape Specialist Job Description Requirements ● Have a valid driver's license and good driving record ● Be able to work vigorously outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, hot, rainy, etc) ● Be able to lift and move heavy objects for extended periods of time on a daily basis ● Have reliable transportation to and from work, and be willing to drive a personal vehicle to the jobsite occasionally when needed ● Be willing to be at work on time every day and work a standard 40 hour, M-F work week with occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed Position Title: Lead Landscape Specialist Job Type: Full-time Starting Pay: $20-25 depending on knowledge, education, and experience. All new hires must complete a 90 probationary period, at which time pay raises will be considered based on the manner in which the probationary period is completed.
