RIVERSIDE, IL — A Chicago man suspected in a number of Riverside burglaries has been arrested in a break-in in which a credit card was stolen, Riverside police said. On Friday, William Wesley Brown, 44, of Chicago, was charged with felony burglary and unlawful use of a credit card, which he is accused of stealing from a garage. After the October burglary, police found a cell phone in a nearby yard in the 100 block of Northgate, where the break-in occurred, according to a police news release. Officers developed leads through video surveillance where the stolen credit card was used in Chicago and Cicero. Riverside detectives determined that Brown was staying at the Cindy Lyn Motel in Cicero, according to the news release. They staked out the motel and found he was with his girlfriend, Nicolette Barton, 34, of Chicago, police said. Officers got a warrant, searched the motel room and recovered stolen property from the Riverside burglary, police said. They said they also found property believed to have been stolen in yet-to-be-identified suburbs. Brown and Barton were both wanted on felony burglary warrants issued by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, the news release said. Brown has 25 arrests on his record, including charges for burglary, aggravated assault, battery, felony theft, retail theft and escape from police custody, police said. Burton is also an admitted and documented street gang member, according to the release. "Mr. Brown is no stranger to Riverside police, and he has over the course of his career been a 'one-man crime wave' in Riverside over the years," Police Chief Tom Weitzel said in the release. "There is no doubt that Mr. Brown was fixated on committing crimes in Riverside after getting repeatedly arrested."
