LA GRANGE, IL — Michael Lang, a University of Dayton student from La Grange, died Thursday from complications of COVID-19, according to media reports. Lang, a graduate of Lyons Township High School, died after a lengthy hospitalization, according to Dayton TV station WDTN. The 18-year-old returned home Sept. 13 to study remotely. "He was just very energetic," Ryan Swanson, a freshman who had seen Lang on campus a few times earlier in the semester, told WDTN. "Very just fun-loving. He was just a nice guy." University officials did not say how long Lang had been hospitalized or where they believed he contracted the virus, according to WDTN. According to Lang's obituary, he loved caddying at La Grange Country Club and enjoyed golf, fishing and all sports. The University of Dayton's website indicated Saturday that 1,415 students have contracted the coronavirus since Aug. 10, with 97 percent of them recovering so far. The school has more than 8,000 undergraduate students.
