I hung a lamp from the ceiling in my house. It is a new hanging so from inside the ceiling, I mounted a junction box, strung wire from the junction box, down inside the wall to a 3-way outlet. I would like a separate switch placed next to the 3-way switch and wire separately from the 3-way so that I can operate the lamp separately. Currently, the switch in a single gang box in the wall. I will get a dual box and another switch to put side by side with the current switch. You will have to - remove the current light switch from the 1-gang switch box. - remove the 1-gang switch box itself. - install the 2-gang switch box. - wire the original lite switch and the new lamp switch in the 2-gang switch box.
