Description

every CEO of every business that does business with foreign countries has already had a meeting with the company's management team to discuss the pros and cons of globalization and how it affects their business. The Russian invasion of Ukraine and immediate sanctions opened some eyes. If this had been China, Walmart would be forced to close within weeks. "In America, estimates say that Chinese suppliers make up 70-80 percent of Walmart’s merchandise, leaving less than 20 percent for American-made products." https://www.americanmanufacturing.org/press-release/fact-sheet-walmarts-made-in-america-pledge/ Every company that depends on foreign companies for sales or to supply parts has had a light bulb moment. We have become far too comfortable with relying on things that are inherently unreliable in the long term. Relying on Russia for natural gas suddenly seems like a risky move by the European countries that entered into a contract with an authoritarian dictator. They are now getting a very small taste of "What's the worst that could happen?". I'd bet the farm you'll start seeing some small unused factories in America coming back to life in the next 6 months. Bigger factories will follow. Dependency on China for computer parts will be greatly reduced. Anything that requires minerals unavailable in the US will be looked at to see if it can be redesigned. This will be a watershed moment in globalization.
