I also believe in personal responsibility and accountability. Which is why these people need to serve real time in prison. When you give a gun to a child who has already told you he's having hallucinations, that is not being responsible. It is deliberately ignoring an obvious risk to the safety of others. "Det. Edward Wagrowski said he found messages from Ethan to a friend saying he had asked his parents to take him to a doctor after he was having hallucinations and hearing voices. Ethan told his friend that in response to that request, his father gave him pills and told him to "suck it up." According to the phone messages, Ethan told his friend that his mother laughed at him, Wagrowski testified." The real problem is that too many ignorant people think of guns as everyday household items and not weapons that are used to kill things when they need to be killed for food or safety. Practicing shooting in order to be safe and accurate is something any responsible person would and should do. Shooting guns "for fun" is something someone completely lacking maturity and intelligence would do.
