FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Falls Township are going to be reaching out to local kids this fall with free Slurpees. The icy treats are part of 7-Eleven's longest running community service program, Operation Chill. Through it, local law enforcement is invited to hand out coupons for a free, medium Slurpee at participating 7-Elevens to children. Typically, they're handed out for observing safety rules or doing other good deeds. "We are always looking for ways to help our officers build strong relationships and connections within the community," said Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney "The Operation Chill program makes it easy to interact with kids in a positive way. This is a great short and long-term investment for 7-Eleven and for us." In 2020, 7-Eleven says it will give away about 1.5 million Slurpee drink coupons through the program, which has been around since 1995, when it started in Philadelphia. In Falls, 275 coupons will be handed out. Over the last 25 years, more than 23 million Operation Chill coupons have been distributed by hundreds of law enforcement agencies.
