MALIBU, CA —The skate park saga continues. On Monday, the temporary skate park, which closed in early July just 10 days after it opened, reopened. Right next door, Malibu Bluffs Park also opened to the public. The park is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, by reservation only. Skaters can reserve a two-hour skate session online every other day, up to one week in advance. A maximum of 12 people can be in the park at a time, and must be wearing helmets and face coverings. The Malibu Surfside News reported that a few skaters were turned away Monday because they were not wearing helmets. Unlike the last time the park opened, observers are not allowed. Skaters can make reservations here, though the park is booked for most of September. Anyone with questions can contact [email protected] questions. The park opens as the city begins a process of reviewing plans for a permanent park. On Wednesday, the city will hold four hour-long virtual sessions on plans, and the public will be able to comment. Officials said plans for the permanent park may be approved by early 2021.
