NW Employment Solutions is partnered with a well-established, family-owned fencing company to hire a CDL Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for operating tractor trailers and trucks including loading and unloading. The CDL Driver is responsible for the safety of their load and ensuring customers receive orders as scheduled. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES other duties as assigned… Drives in a safe manner and within compliance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. Drops unique loads at customer locations and ensures load is correct before departing according to paperwork. Maintains vehicles and equipment and properly completes reports including pre and post-trip checklists. Works with Fleet Mechanic to complete repairs noted or schedule for service with outside vendor. Loads and unloads flatbed trailers. Works with Primary Load Builders to properly review and secure load prior to departure. Unstraps load and roll up straps after returning from deliveries. Weekly cleaning of inside and outside of semi-truck. JOB DUTIES Follows all safety policies and practices. Ensures that all safety concerns are reported immediately to a manager or member of the Safety Committee. Instills a safe work environment in their own practices and in others. Picks up will call items as needed and verify that the paperwork matches the items picked up prior to departing. Communicates in advance with customer regarding arrival time and unloading equipment needs. Ensures that all loads are properly secured before driving. Operates assorted power and hand tools and performs general labor in the shop area as needed. Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance. Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working withcustomers and coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure. Respectfully takes direction from manager. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The driver may be required to provide training and mentoring to a newly hired driver. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others. One-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to operate an onboard navigational device. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS This position requires a forklift certification, a valid, insurable Class A driver’s license and current DOT medical card. Must have a clear and insurable driving record to meet DOT requirements.
