Description
Assist the engineering team with creating new products, create prototypes for R&D, test new features of products, maintain and test existing product features and validate new improvements. This position supports both the marine division and the land division. Existing products in the marine division are used for clean-fuel boat propulsion systems and consist of electronic boards, controllers and computers, electromechanical devices, wiring harnesses, software systems for embedded boat-engine computers and helm controls using CAN-based communication and diagnostic devices. Existing products in the land division include remote monitoring systems and sensors for mobile gas units which work on cell phone networks and systems for maintenance of battery chargers. This position is also responsible for the fabrication of testing fixtures that speed up the testing of our products, along with documenting test results. You can creatively contribute to the creation of new products and product features. BGM aims to disrupt the marine industry and the energy technology industry with the creation of unique new technology as we continue our growth into many new markets and applications. Our marine systems aim to eliminate pollution or significantly reduce it through the use of alternative clean fuels like Natural Gas (now) and other even cleaner fuels like Hydrogen, in the future. Work with the engineering team to organize highly complex activities for the design, development and manufacturing of fuel systems for existing boat engines, new natural gas engines, fuel storage and dispensing equipment for our clean fuels. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Install Blue Gas Marine systems in boats used for testing, lab engines and mobile gas units. 2. Assembling components on PCBs and test that boards work as intended. 3. Configuring software systems that control our electronic systems. 4. Solving and troubleshooting technical problems related to electronic fuel systems and boat engines. 5. Helping and assisting engineers in various technical planning, designing and execution projects. 6. Application of engineering principles to practical situations. 7. Work with tools, software and machines to create new things as per the instructions of the engineer or scientist. 8. Gathering data and organizing it so as to help the engineer work. 9. Performing repairs on engineered products. 10. Testing products for performance and efficiency. 11. Set up and maintain engineering equipment. 12. Monitor the functioning of things and report problems to the engineers. 13. Documentation of records related to research and development 14. Ensure setting up of safety measures. 15. Use software applications to perform various functions 16. Test and optimize the application of systems on commercially available marine engines to enable their maximum performance with Natural Gas. 17. Assist with engine and boat testing on performance, emissions and other key areas. 18. Assist with product development activities for engine conversion systems and instrumentation. 19. Perform stress, durability and other calculations and tests on sample company products during product development. 20. Select and track key technical metrics of importance for warranty coverage. 21. Perform maintenance on lab and testing equipment. 22. Actively participate in project meetings with suppliers, partners and customers. OTHER FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide advice to executive management on additional features and applications for existing company products and new products. We are always interested in new ideas! JOB SPECIFICATIONS: (Desired education and experience) 1. An associate’s degree in engineering or 5 years experience in electronics expertise. 2. 2 years experience assembling or testing/repairing electronic systems and PCBs. 3. Good knowledge of electronics systems and working with low voltage systems. 4. Experience configuring software (programming experience is also a plus but not required). 5. Full-Time or Part-Time
