Watercolor artist Aislinn is back in the classroom but this time sharing her love of cooking Persian cuisine for the Persian New Year. Watered Down Art + Healthy Eats Nutrition Instructors: Aislinn Hematyar Kalstad and Elaina Moon Persian cuisine is known for its aromatic flavors, vibrant use of spices and herbs, and exotic dishes that have inspired other cuisines around the world. Persian cuisine, while having a bold identity of its own, is a mix of Iranian, Mediterranean, and other Middle Eastern accents. Come join Aislinn in the kitchen as we explore her traditional cultural dishes and dive into the rich spirit of Persian cooking. This will be an experience like no other we have had in the Healthy Eats Classroom, and we are so excited to share it with you! In this class participants will get the opportunity to cook one of the recipes, taste new dishes, and take recipes home to enjoy many more times. I’m Aislinn Hematyar Kalstad, a local artist who regularly teaches about and shares my love of art, but this time I’m switching topics and focusing on Persian cuisine! Being half Iranian, I’ve had the good fortune of experiencing these foods throughout my life made by family and friends but after moving to Yakima and realizing I couldn’t find these dishes anywhere locally, I began cooking them at home for my husband and I.
