Description

Join you Pioneer Square neighbors in planting brand new miniature rain gardens! The Alliance for Pioneer Square invites you to join us for a volunteer planting event. Stewardship Partners, a local non-profit in the neighborhood, will be leading volunteers to transform four tree pits into miniature rain gardens. The rain gardens will be home to several native plant species that will attract pollinators and help filter stormwater, keeping the Puget Sound clean. Please come help us bring this ecological benefit to the district and further beautify Pioneer Square alongside your neighbors! Date: March 13, 2022 Time: 10:00am-2:00pm Location: 520 Occidental Ave S Morning pastries, coffee, and a pizza lunch will be provided to volunteers. Vegan and gluten free options will be made available. We encourage volunteers to bring a reusable water bottle to the event. All volunteers will receive a pair of Pioneer Square branded gardening gloves to keep. Volunteer spots are limited, so we encourage you to sign up early. Please let us know if you can no longer attend the event so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. UPDATE: Following the Washington State Department of Health and CDC Guidance, wearing a face covering/mask will not be required to participate in this event. Hand sanitizer will be available at all times. Please do not attend if you are having COVID-19 symptoms or are feeling unwell. Funding for this project was made possible by Historic South Downtown.
