New Afghans in Snohomish -- Join us for cultural orientation training so you can best be set for success in rebuilding your lives here! The American Muslim Empowerment Network at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS-AMEN) invites new Afghan arrivals under the state resettlement program to join us for an in-person training series to cover the required topics of cultural orientation. Learn the information, resources, and tools to help you succeed in building your new life in America! Please register to attend this series of sessions to learn about the following topics, and more: Role of the Washington State Afghan Placement and Assistance (SAPA) providers, and resources available to help new Afghans;Immigration status as humanitarian parole;U.S. laws and law enforcement; The new community;English language;Housing;Employment;Budget and personal finance;Safety;Hygiene;Cultural adjustment; andEducationThis training will be held at the Lynnwood Professional Center, taught in Dari (or Pashto as needed) by Afghan-American facilitators. It will take place on the following dates: Tues, March 15, 4:00pm to 6:00pm (check in at 3:30pm)Sat, March 19, 2:00pm to 4:00pm (check in at 1:30pm)Tues, March 22, 4:00pm to 6:00pm (check in at 3:30pm)Sat, March 26, 2:00pm to 4:00pm (check in at 1:30pm)Tues, March 29, 4:00pm to 6:00pm (check in at 3:30pm)Sat, April 2, 2:00pm to 4:00pm (check in at 1:30pm) [BACKUP DATE -- only if needed]Spots are limited. Attendees are expected to attend ALL sessions to complete the required cultural orientation training under the resettlement program. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the full training series. The series will also be offered one time after Ramadan, but this is your chance to sign up and complete this required training before the start of Ramadan! We look forward to having you join us.
