Bonsai do not grow in a day. Plant and learn how to maintain a bonsai. Come back to see how yours and others grew!
There are two portions to this class. At 5:30 we will be planting and pruning a new Ficus "Green Island" to turn into a bonsai (details below)Those who took November's Schefflera Bonsai class are invited at 6:15 to bring in their Schefflera. We will review everyone's winter growth and make adjustments as needed. Everyone is welcome to attend both to learn more and be a part of our club!
Bonsai is an art form that takes place over a long period of time. This workshop will deal with establishing a plant and plan for shaping them over a 4–6-month period. A second (optional) date for a check-in workshop will be planned for early autumn. We will readjust wire and clip roots at this time. You can also send update pictures or questions to instructor’s email [email protected] at any time.
This session will be Ficus "Green Island". Ficus is a vast family of plants with many growing habits. The chosen Ficus is used primarily as hedges in warmer climates. It stays compact with glossy green leaves which makes a great choice for bonsais.
Included in the session is 1 8” bonsai pot of preferred style and color, 1 Ficus "Green Island" plant, wire materials, and bonsai soil.
