Brief, Powerful, and Effective Trauma-Informed Interventions for Substance-Using Clients and Their Families
Sarah Wolford PhD., LMFT (NC), LMHC (FL)
The purpose of this all-day clinical training is threefold: (1) To invite mental health professionals to understand and appropriately synthesize the common factors associated with many evidence-based theories and their approaches to the treatment of developmental trauma across the lifespan, (2) Provide diagnostic clarity regarding the selection of best-fit, trauma-and stressor-related diagnoses for clientele, and (3) Demonstrate a practical application of a variety of brief, yet effective trauma-informed interventions for substance-using patients and their families. In addition, this training will focus on the complexities associated with understanding the types of trauma and their impact across the lifespan, including recent research on trauma across various intersections of diversity (e.g., poverty trauma, racial/cultural trauma, immigration trauma etc.). As a result of this training, attendees will obtain a foundational context of all trauma-informed interventions across the evidence-based literature, as well as a toolkit of interventions, strategies, and psychoeducational approaches to meet the needs of their clientele.
