Join us on a Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture Sketch Tour at the FL Southern College in Lakeland. The Orlando Urban Sketchers group is inviting sketchers from Orlando, Ctr. FL, Tampa, and Lakeland to join us on a field trip to the FL Southern College in Lakeland for a Sketch Tour of the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright campus Architecture. The event will be of two parts: Guided tour - (optional) 90 minutes basic-tour from 10:00 am to 11:30 am (cost $27 per person) prepare to take quick sketch notes during the tour. Sketchbook drawing session at the campus outdoors - from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm - FREE *Sketchers can choose if to join both parts or any of the two. Bring your sketchbook, drawing supply, and folded stool. Dress for the weather. WHEN - Saturday, April 2, 2022 WHERE - 840 Johnson Avenue in Lakeland, Florida, 33801 MEET UP - 9:30 am at the entrance to the Visitor Center. We will enter as one group. TOUR GROUP SIZE - Maximum 15 visitors - Early registration required. We will collect an early tour payment in advance. To guarantee/reserve your tour spot please text us at 321-231-6401. PARKING - There is limited parking next to the Center and unlimited parking across the street on the college campus and side streets nearby. There is no permit required and parking is free. Allow yourself 30 minutes to find parking as students are also on campus at this time. Accessibility - Because Florida Southern College is a National Historic Landmark and does not conform to ADA Accessibility Guidelines, we welcome visitors to contact us regarding accessibility. Our Basic, In-Depth and Behind-the-Scenes tours are not accessible to visitors in wheelchairs, scooters or walkers. Please contact the Visitor Center office to discuss their Accessibility Tour options 863.680.4597. General notes - Frank Lloyd Wright’s buildings remain in active use by Florida Southern College largely for their original, intended function. Therefore, spaces that are typically visited on our tour may fall into use for academic purposes. While we endeavor to visit all of the spaces included on our guided tours, access is not guaranteed. Walking tours depart rain or shine. Walking shoes are recommended. In the event of inclement weather, it is your responsibility to wear proper attire and to bring an umbrella, if needed. SKETCHBOOKS THROWDOWN - We will end up our sketch-tour event with Urban Sketchers' traditional 'Sketchbooks Throwdown' and a group photo. LUNCH - We plan on a group lunch at a nearby restaurant. We would love to have you join us for more group bonding and comradeship.
