A dynamic, industry-only seminar and tasting highlighting the farming practices, winemaking, & people bringing int'l buzz to Michigan wine Eagle Eye Brands, in partnership with Michigan’s top wineries, is pleased to announce the first industry-only event in the Frontier Winemaking Series taking place in Detroit on Sunday, March 20th. Industry-leaders: Get ready for a dynamic seminar and comprehensive walk-around tasting that will highlight the farming practices, winemaking, and players brining international buzz to Michigan as the next important frontier in cool-climate winemaking. We will welcome the following guest winemakers: Dave Bos, BOS Wines, Sean O’Keefe, Mari Vineyards, Thomas Houseman, 2LADS, Mike Laing, bigLITTE/Mawby, Chris Southern, Detroit Vineyards, Andrew Backlin, Modales Wines, Bryan Ulbrich, Detroit Vineyards The event program is as follows: 12-12:30 PM- Intro: The Dirt on Michigan Dave Bos talks about the changes in Michigan farming practices that are driving new standards of quality and environmental stewardship 12:30-1:30 – Session 1: New Blood Moderator Tim Tebeau introduces a panel of transplants from Oregon, California, and Bordeaux who bring fresh perspective and innovation to the Michigan wine scene. Speakers: Thomas Houseman, Chris Southern, Dave Bos, Andrew Backlin1:30-2:30 – Tasting: The New Universe of Michigan Wine A comprehensive walk-around style tasting of participating wineries paired with snacks. 2:30-3:30 – Session 2: Theories of Evolution Moderator Amanda Danielson introduces three winemakers who have pioneered Michigan’s winemaking evolution in the last decade and they discuss how their methods have evolved and adapted to best express Michigan’s unique and challenging terroir. Speakers: Sean O’Keefe, Bryan Ulbrich, Mike Laing3:30-4:00 – Closing: The Michigan Imperative Moderator Tim Tebeau introduces two of Michigan’s top wine experts, Madeline Triffon and Amanda Danielson, who discuss the vital importance of building awareness and support for Michigan wines on restaurant wine lists and in retail wine sets.
