Press release from The Sandy Point Neighborhood Association: WEST HAVEN, CT — The Sandy Point Neighborhood Association has announced this season's first Neighborhood Cleanup for Saturday, March 12 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Organized by the Association's Beautification Committee, the cleanup will begin along Peck Avenue behind the Washington Manor Apartments. (The specific address on GPS is approximately 291 Peck Avenue). The focus of the cleanup will be on the two vacant lots located here and along the stream that goes under Peck Avenue at this point. Participants may want to wear boots in case the area is muddy that day. Residents of the surrounding area are encouraged to join in the effort. The Association will provide gloves and trash bags for volunteers, and there will be a limited number of trash grabbers/pickers available for those who need one. Bottled water and snacks will be provided for all participants. "There are some spots in our neighborhood that have become eyesores, because trash seems to always collect on them. We are hopeful we can make a difference by targeting these areas and cleaning them up", commented Association Vice-President Kathie Hebert. The Association has scheduled a total of ten (10) cleanups throughout the year, targeting different sections of the Sandy Point neighborhood each time. The complete schedule can be viewed on the Association's website, www.SandyPointNeighbors.Org The Association was initially formed in 2021 with the purpose of helping to build networks of volunteers to improve communications and the quality of life in this neighborhood, located in the southeastern corner of this City. The Association's boundaries are: Washington Avenue on the west; First Avenue on the east; Beach Street on the south; and Brown Street on the north. Interested residents, property owners and businesses are welcome to join by visiting the Association's website, www.SandyPointNeighbors.Org.
