South Bay Stabbing Attack Suspect Arrested

GILROY, CA – The suspect in a Gilroy stabbing attack has been arrested, police said. The incident occurred Friday at around 6:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of Monterey Road according to police. Aris David Perez, 19 of Richmond, has been identified as the suspect according to police. Gilroy police officers provided life-saving first aid to the victim, who was airlifted to a local trauma center for treatment. The victim is expected to survive, police said. Investigators said an employee of a business confronted a small group of people who were causing a disturbance outside the business. After being confronted by the employee, the suspect stabbed the victim numerous times before fleeing the area with two others. An investigation led police to a Gilroy residence where the Perez was seen in a vehicle leaving the area. Officers made a vehicle stop and arrested Perez on suspicion of attempted homicide. Perez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail. Police also arrested the female driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence.
