Driver Killed In South Bay Crash

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose police said Wednesday that the driver of a car that crashed into the wall of a business last week has succumbed to his injuries. The crash was reported at 6:04 p.m. in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Savaker Street just north of Interstate Highway 280. A 1973 green Datsun pickup truck was speeding in the area when the driver, identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as 31-year-old San Jose resident Alberto Alvarez, lost control and hit the front wall of a Lincoln Avenue business. Alvarez was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. He taken to a hospital to be treated for major injuries, and police learned on Tuesday that he had succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The fatal crash was the 44th on San Jose city streets in 2020.
