POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Marketing and Communications supports the work of the West Suburban YMCA, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all. The Director creates, implements, and manages all activities associated with an annual integrated Marketing & Communications Plan designed to identify the people we are communicating with, create relevant and compelling visuals and messaging that those people find valuable and deliver messaging through a variety of communications channels. The Director works with all departments including VP of Mission Advancement, VP of HR and the Membership and Program Directors to inform and engage active constituents and to identify, recruit and engage unaffiliated prospects. The Director initiates and monitors the effectiveness of the Marketing & Communications Plan and ties all marketing activities back to organizational enrollment goals for membership, camp, program participation and mission advancement. The Director manages a full-time Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications and any interns. Marketing to include all locations of the Y across the association: Main facility at 276 Church Street, Camp Chickami in Wayland, Camp Frank A. Day in East Brookfield and the facility on Wells Ave. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Marketing Plan Development – Develops an annual integrated Marketing & Communications Plan in line with organizational objectives and goals for membership, programs and development. Monitors and reports progress on the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met. 2. Brand Management – Ensures Y-USA brand standards for visual design and voice messaging are upheld across the organization. Serves as main point of contact with the Brand Team at Y-USA. Discovers, shares and recommends strategic placement of new brand resources for programs, membership and the nationwide campaign. Responsible for achieving and maintaining brand compliance certification with Y-USA. 3. Design & Production – Design and produce on-brand compelling collateral for multi-channel delivery, including YMCA Program Catalogs, Summer Camp brochure, digital advertisements, annual report, development appeals & events, and branch signage. Manage relationships with printers, direct mail house, photographers, and other creative production vendors. 4. Communications/Public Relations – Writes and implements annual editorial calendar and Annual Report for the organization. Establishes contacts with local media representatives, pitches stories, writes and submits press releases when appropriate. 5. As part of the Crisis and Communications response team, the Director creates pre-written response templates for many various scenarios and reviews these responses annually with leadership team. 6. Website – Oversees day-to-day maintenance of website, including site speed, analytics, content, SEO. Makes recommendations for evaluating and hiring web developers when appropriate and manages the migration from one site to another. 7. Social Media – Monitors all social media sites and posts on various platforms to enhance, communicate and protect the Y’s reputation. 8. SEM – manage Google Ad Grants for nonprofits fulfilling the requirements for maintaining the $10K/month in PPC advertising while maximizing the volume of search advertising impressions. 9. Creative content creator: Ability to collaborate skills to incorporate ideas into different marketing avenues.
