ABOUT THE ARTIST Nicole New is Detroit’s leading female vocalist and band leader. Soulful and sensitive, Nicole is known for her creative fusion of genres. Nicole transcends far beyond just singing the standards, she makes them all her own. Nicole’s Interpretation is reminiscent of someone who understands deeply, the meaning of song. While Nicole is best known for her performances at Detroit jazz venues such as The Dirty Dog Jazz Café, Cliff Bell’s, and the Steinway Jazz Café, she frequently travels across the country to share her music, as well. In New York City, Nicole is often seen at venues like Small’s, Mezzrow, Terra Blues, and Lola. Her most recent national performances with The New Mexico Philharmonic “Gershwin and Friends” and the Jackson Symphony Orchestra “Evening of Broadway”, and she is approaching the conclusion of her debut album, Dualities ABOUT THIS SERIES Five years ago, we came up with a new live music series – Kittens & Crooners – to celebrate the music and style of our country’s classic jazz singers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, and Rosemary Clooney. The four shows we held in 2016 at the Tipping Point Theater in Northville went over so well that we continued presenting live jazz at that venue until the pandemic put a halt to indoor concerts. (Don't worry, we'll be doing more shows at the Tipping Point.) Well, now it’s time to revive Kittens & Crooners, and we’ve found another intimate venue that’s perfect for this type of performance: the lower level of Ciao Amici's restaurant in downtown Brighton.
