Description

Where do I start? The difference between a homeless person squatting in an abandoned building, and someone who is housed is a social aspect. Housing is as simple as stepping through a door and being accepted. When my town burned down, all the residents were homeless.. and then they weren't. They are now in their permanent house, temporary housing, or in a shelter, and most are in the first two categories (because homelessness is solved with homes.) I have been homeless off and on for 10 years. I am currently housed. I was homeless when I found something in myself I really cared about. It fueled the drive to be closer to my community (job, place) to try to share that. But sharing is a two way street and I am not well practiced.. but that's where to start. Find out what they love and build that path together. Share a cup of coffee. Be homeless for a bit (it's solved with housing.) We're in this together. Documents, Food Stamps, MediCal, and resumes are all easy to acquire. So in turn are jobs, rehab, and mental health services.
