HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A young boy from Howard County has been honored as one of the brightest students in the world by The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Vamsi Tanguturi, a student at Hollifield Station Elementary School, had taken a college preparatory test as part of the CTY's talent search. Vamsi recorded an "exceptional performance." Based on his test results, Vamsi now becomes one of 19,000 students from around the world to join the CTY in the 2020-2021 talent search. The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth draws students from 50 states and 84 countries worldwide, and brings together the brightest minds of the next generation for academic challenges. Vamsi's father, Madhu Tanguturi, told Patch that his son aspires to become a scientist or geologist when he grows up. "We as parents are excited and proud about our child's current accomplishment. We would want to coach him towards reaching his full potential in his life. We are kind of overwhelmed too, given he has so many questions all through the day," Tanguturi said.
