HOUSTON, TX — Harris County Elections Administrator Isabel Longoria resigned Tuesday shortly after Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said she intended to replace her following a bumpy primary last week, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.
Longoria's resignation will take affect July 1, according to the report.
Official election results in Harris County and statewide primary races last week were delayed because of damaged ballots in Harris County that had to be reproduced, Patch reported during the election.
More than 10,000 Harris County ballots were found Saturday that had not been included in the unofficial count.
Hidalgo said some mistakes were because of new rules in election laws recently passed in Texas, but put some blame on Longoria and her staff for unforced errors, according to the Chronicle report.
