SANTA MONICA, CA — Bacteria levels are exceeding state standards at several beaches, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced Wednesday night. Officials caution residents who are planning to visit the following Los Angeles County beaches to avoid swimming, surfing, and playing in ocean waters: Mother's Beach in Marina Del ReySanta Monica Pier in Santa MonicaTopsail Street Extension in VeniceCastlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County BeachMalibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach "The warnings have been issued due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested," officials said in a statement. The following warnings are now cleared for these beaches: Topanga Canyon Beach in MalibuInner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro Recent samples at Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro identified that water quality levels are now within state standards, officials said.
