Description

Press release from Borough of Madison: March 8, 2022 The fourth-annual Green Vision Forum, hosted by the Madison Environmental Commission (MEC), invites student green teams to share their vision for protecting and connecting with the natural world. The event, which will include students from local Madison schools and Drew University, will be introduced by Mayor Robert H. Conley. The forum will be held virtually through Zoom on Thursday, March 31 at 6:30pm. A registration link will be posted on March 15, 2022 on rosenet.org. "As we see rapid changes to our natural world from losing trees to declining song-bird populations, we wanted to hear the perspective of our student environmentalists on how Madison can protect our natural habitat," says MEC Green Vision organizer, Kirsten Wallenstein. "Student presentations are always surprising and inspiring," says Mayor Robert H. Conley. "They've led the council to shift from plastic to reusable bottles, skip the straw and other measures." Last year, Green Vision Forum projects ranged from a native plant cookbook to a program where students recycled bottle caps into benches now found around town. "This forum is a great way for our community to discuss environmental issues that affect future generations the most. Every year the Borough Council and community learn something new in how we can all become stewards for our planet," says Councilmember Rachel Ehrlich, liaison to the MEC. Please email the MEC at [email protected] with questions about the event.
