LONG VALLEY, NJ — Roads are blocked around Washington Township after high winds left trees down Tuesday morning. In Washington Township, following a storm with high winds overnight, a downed tree and power line blocked Pickle Road at numbers 84-90 on Tuesday morning. Black River Road was also blocked by a downed tree at number 228, as was Hollow Brook Road at number 9, according to the township's office of emergency management. Downed trees and other storm fallout have left hundreds of homes without power in Morris County, where more customers remained without power on Tuesday morning than anywhere else in New Jersey. At 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Energy First Power and Light reported 4,358 customers were without power in Morris County. In Chatham Township, Lenape Trail and Fairfax Terrace were closed in both directions due to trees and power lines across the roadways. JCP&L has been notified, Chatham Township Police announced on Tuesday morning. In Chatham Borough, Police announced Weston Avenue was closed between Center Street and Elmwood Avenue because of a downed tree and power lines. Borough authorities advised motorists to avoid the area and plan an alternative route. Get your local news! Subscribe to Patch.
