NEW ORLEANS, LA — Power has been almost fully restored following an outage in New Orleans on Wednesday morning, according to Entergy New Orleans.
All but 265 customers have had their power restored, and the company hopes to have power to the remaining areas by 6 a.m. Thursday, Entergy New Orleans spokesperson Lee Sabatini confirmed to Patch.
Nearly 10,000 Entergy customers were without power Wednesday morning, Sabatini said Wednesday morning. The outage affected around 9,800 customers in the central business district and started just after 9 a.m.
The outage cut off power to traffic lights and office buildings during rush hour.
Entergy officials believe birds are the likely cause of the power outage after an initial investigation, Sabatini said.
