NORTH JERSEY — NJ Transit said Wednesday afternoon that the Morris & Essex train lines will continue to run on a limited schedule through Friday, as workers clear a damaged tree and repair equipment at Maplewood station. They said that continuing through the end of the service day on Friday, March 11, trains will run on a modified schedule between South Orange and Penn Station New York/Hoboken. The Gladstone Branch will remain suspended. The agency said that there may be additional changes Saturday and Sunday, which they will announce on Friday. The agency said that M&E and Gladstone Branch tickets and passes will continue to be cross-honored on NJ TRANSIT's Raritan Valley Line and Montclair-Boonton Line trains as well as on NJ TRANSIT bus and private carrier buses. Monday's windy weather caused a large tree to fall on the Morris & Essex (M&E) lines tracks in Maplewood, damaging the catenary structure and the overhead wires the structure supports, before landing across the rail tracks, the agency said. Customers are advised to visit njtransit.com for the latest service information and allow for extra travel time. Click here for modified service schedule. Customers at stations between Hackettstown and Denville should use Montclair-Boonton Line trains and should consult the Montclair-Boonton timetables. Enhanced service will operate on the Montclair-Boonton Line. Click here for enhanced Montclair-Boonton schedule.
