By John Gibson, WNIN March 8, 2022 U.S. Senator Mike Braun of Indiana voted with a slim majority on a resolution to end the federal COVID state of emergency. The measure passed by a vote of 48-47, with three Democrats and two Republicans absent. In a release, Braun said Congress can eliminate a national state of emergency under the National Emergencies Act, President Trump signed the declaration in March 2020, President Biden extended it last year, and it was set to expire on March 1st of this year. But Biden extended the national emergency in February. The measure to end the emergency is not expected to pass the U.S. House. Indiana's public health emergency expired Friday.
