Description
LOS ANGELES, CA — An injury crash involving a big rig truck, triggered a two-lane closure on the Harbor (11) freeway just south of the Artesia (91) Freeway during the Wednesday morning rush hour.
Just after 8 a.m., callers reported to the California Highway Patrol that a vehicle was trapped under a big rig that was still driving down the freeway.
"That is possible," explained California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson. "The big rig (driver) may not have even felt the impact and just kept on going, and the driver was not even alerted."
Eventually, the driver stopped, and crews worked to free the occupant of a pickup truck that got wedged underneath the big rig.
The crash shut down the 3 and 4 lanes for less than an hour. Shortly after 9 a.m., the CHP had the wreckage moved off to the right side of the freeway.
The condition of the injured driver was not immediately known. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
