LOS ANGELES, CA — Elon Musk, the second richest man in Los Angeles has moved to Texas where he can be number one. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO announced the move to the Wall Street Journal Tuesday with some parting shots at his longtime home state of California. The second richest man in the world appeared to sour on the Golden State during the pandemic when Alameda County's shut down orders halted work at his Tesla Plant. The move to a state without a personal income tax will allow him to keep his billions while also enabling him prioritize SpaceX's new Starship spacecraft and Tesla Inc.'s new Gigafactory being built in Austin, the Los Angeles Times reported. Musk's Tesla operations in Fremont and SpaceX operations in the South Bay will continue. However, Musk's 20 year relationship with California may be strained. He has some harsh words for the state that made him rich. "If a team has been winning for too long they do tend to get a little complacent, a little entitled, and then they don't win the championship anymore," he told the journal. "California's been winning for a long time. And I think they're taking them for granted a little bit." He's not so hot on Silicon Valley anymore either. "Silicon Valley, or the Bay Area, has too much influence on the world, in my opinion," said Musk. "The Bay Area has outsized influence on the world."
