Description
EAGLE ROCK, CA — A brush fire burning at the scene of a rollover crash has shutdown the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway at Colorado Boulevard in the Eagle Rock area.
About a quarter-acre of brush has burned and all lanes of the freeway are shutdown. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert expected to last until 10 a.m.
According to the CHP a car slammed into the guardrail and rolled down the embankment before landing on its roof. The crash apparently sparked a brush fire. The CHP was called to the scene at 9:01 a.m.
It was unclear if the driver remained trapped in the vehicle, but a woman was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital in unknown condition. Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 40 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
Authorities closed the eastbound 134 Freeway at the nearby Glendale (2) Freeway to limit traffic from entering the area while crews worked to clear debris from the roadway, the CHP reported.
