BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Bolingbrook man who was arrested last month after police said he tried to break in through the window of a local home on two occasions has been linked to four similar incidents and has been taken into custody. Police announced the arrest on Tuesday.
Zacharie Brown, 28, was arrested on Monday and charged in connection with four incidents in which police said he broke into people's homes and recorded them as they slept. Police said Brown is also tied to incidents that took place in August, October and December, including one incident in which officials say he lifted a blanket to expose a man who was sleeping.
Brown has been charged with four counts of residential burglary, four counts of unauthorized video recording, four counts of criminal trespass to a residence, and three counts of attempted criminal sexual abuse, police said Tuesday. Police said that some of the incidents were never reported to the police.
Brown appeared in court on Tuesday is being held on a $500,000 bond, court records show.
Brown was originally arrested on Feb. 22 and charged in connection with trying to enter a home in the 100 block of Delmar just after 3 a.m. Brown was seen trying to break into the same home on Feb. 17, police said, but were not able to take him into custody after he got into his car and fled.
Police investigators determined that Brown was also involved in a similar incident in December and issued a warrant for Brown's arrest. Brown was taken into custody without incident and was charged with felony criminal trespass to a residence. Police said at the time that they were investigating a possible link to his involvement in previous crimes.
