LA Marathon To Run Through Beverly Hills; Expect Street Closures

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The Los Angeles Marathon will run through Beverly Hills come March 20, which will create some road closures throughout the city. Beverly Hills will be the final third of the race, which will start at Dodger Stadium and end at Avenue of the Stars in Century City, running past landmarks like Olvera Street, Echo Park Lake, the Pantages Theater and of course, Rodeo Drive. The following roads will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 20: Doheny Drive from North Santa Monica Boulevard to Burton WayBurton Way from Doheny Drive to South Santa Monica BoulevardSouth Santa Monica Boulevard from Rexford Drive to Rodeo DriveRodeo Drive from South Santa Monica Boulevard to Wilshire BoulevardWilshire Boulevard from Rodeo Drive to South Santa Monica BoulevardSouth Santa Monica Boulevard closed from Wilshire Boulevard to Moreno Drive(Courtesy of the city of Beverly Hills)A detour for drivers will run along the western border of the city, according to a news release from the city. "We are thrilled to welcome the athletes of the 37th annual LA Marathon back to Beverly Hills," Mayor Bob Wunderlich said in a news release. "We hope that our iconic City inspires and brings an extra boost of energy to runners as they enter the final third of the race." Want to watch the runners whiz by? The city will have a viewing area set up on Wilshire Boulevard between South Camden Drive and South Rodeo Drive. The marathon ran through Los Angeles in November with a new course that included Beverly Hills. Runners were met throughout the city by community organizations like the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation and Kitten Rescue.
